Kindergarten Letter Worksheets and Activities

Introducing letters in kindergarten should be fun and engaging. Every week I introduce one letter and use a set of kindergarten letter worksheets to give them the practice they need.

These worksheets include identifying the upper and lowercase letter, tracing and writing the letter, learning the sound, and matching the pictures that start with the letter.

These kindergarten printable worksheets are great for kindergarten homework as well. Learning letters are essential to Kindergarten readiness and success.

Using a combination of tactile, visual, fine-motor, gross-motor, and auditory modes of learning results in mastery. We include technology, music, art, and movement through out our day to keep students interested and engaged. As we use worksheets through out the week, I allow students to use different materials to practice with.

I use the kindergarten letter worksheets through out the week that allow my students to practice the letter sound, trace it, write it, and identify the letter. This sounds nothing out of the ordinary and nothing special. It is basics and important to teach. What makes ordinary into something special is the way that you deliver it. Use different types of pencils, paint dotters, markers, twistable crayons, smelly crayons/markers, etc.

We use different materials through out the week from the literacy station shelves. This year we have used chalk markers on chalkboards, neon pencils on black paper, small magnetic writing boards, puzzles, sand, dry erase boards/markers, and matching games from my monthly literacy packs.

I frequently refer to my word wall through out the year as we learn new words. The letters and their sounds are mentioned daily as we work through literacy stations, writing, and reading.
